2013 Saks & The City

Saks & The City VI, held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 was again an extravaganza of glitz and glamour raising more than $150,000 in support of TBCF's critical programs. The event, held at Saks Fifth Avenue offered up a special night for ladies to get dressed up and enjoy cocktails served by firefighters and delectable hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants. Tarot card readers, mini-makeovers, and massages were also available for further indulgence. To appeal to the gentlemen, a burlesque show, casino tables, tequila tasting, and beer sampling added to the excitement.

 

Actor Billy Baldwin served as Master of Ceremonies and facilitated a live auction with spectacular items such as an AMAWaterways European Luxury River Cruise, trips from Santa Barbara Travel Bureau, a surf retreat with legendary surfer Shaun Tomson, a dress donated by Katy Perry from her movie "Part of Me" paired with fine jewelry from Daniel Gibbings Jewelry. Other unique items included travel packages to Sun Valley in Idaho, Garza Blanca Resort in Mexico, and an "I Love New York" theater, shopping and culinary getaway.

Thanks to the remarkable partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue, the success of Saks & The City VI can be attributed to our generous donors, local businesses, service providers, volunteers, guests, and the hard work of our dedicated event committee, lead by chair, Donna Barranco Fisher, and vice-chair, Vanessa Decker.

Why Gold?

Although many colors were considered, gold was agreed upon as the ideal choice for childhood cancer awareness because gold is a precious metal, and is therefore the perfect color to reflect the most precious thing in our lives - our children.
